Malnutrition affects 1 in 3 people around the world—all ages, all geographies and all socioeconomic classes. Progress to address malnutrition has been slow and has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Malnutrition takes many forms:
The problem is extremely complex. Conflict, environmental crises and economic instability play a role. Vulnerable groups continue to be disproportionately impacted by these disruptions and lack of resources, impacting access to good nutrition and ultimately improved outcomes.
Tackling malnutrition is no small task. By listening to what's needed at the local levels, bringing forward innovative ideas and working with partners, we can make a meaningful impact on malnutrition.
That's why we've created the Abbott Center for Malnutrition Solutions—a collaboration between Abbott and external nutrition experts and partners—to identify, treat and prevent malnutrition.
