Providing Relief for Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian was the most powerful hurricane to ever make landfall in the Bahamas. The storm devastated Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands, resulting in at least 50 lives lost, 1,300 people missing and 70,000 people left homeless.

To help address urgent needs, Abbott and its foundation, the Abbott Fund, are providing $300,000 in grants and healthcare products to support relief efforts.

This includes Abbott Fund grants to the American Red Cross, Americares, Direct Relief and Heart to Heart International to help advance their relief efforts. Abbott also is donating adult nutrition products, clinical nutrition products, infant formula, and diabetes monitors and test strips to Direct Relief, and handheld blood analyzers to Heart to Heart International.

Hurricane Dorian also caused significant damage in the U.S. as well. In advance of hurricane season, we worked with Feeding America and Direct Relief to store donated Abbott nutrition products at food banks and health clinics. These supplies helped to provide a first wave of immediate relief for communities affected by Hurricane Dorian. For more information on these partnerships, click here.
